The EHS Manager will provide leadership and implement safety and environmental programs and or processes with a focus on long-term accident/illness prevention, environmental awareness, employee health and safety awareness, and to drive a Safety First Culture. Manage 2 EHS professionals and up to 3 EHS admin. Also manages outside security & recycling companies on site.
  • Lead all EHS programs to ensure regulatory compliance to reduce workplace hazards and control losses due to accidents, injuries, or illnesses.
  • Develop and administer the EHS budget, manage vendors safety program for EHS and PPE
  • Strategically analyze and trend observation data from product areas
  • Serve as a “Voice for Safety”
  • Manage Waste Water department (permitting, discharge, and Waste Water Technicians)
  • Develop and evaluate the written EHS policies and programs /
  • Administer the Safety Training Program for all Company employees
  • Drive continuous improvement in human, equipment, chemical, and facility safety and housekeeping
  • Drive EHS framework and engage site leadership in pursuing and attaining VPP certification
  • Facilitate and lead plant wide cross functional EHS teams
  • Responsible for leading and facilitating Sustainability and Zero Landfill Initiative, over see the recycle contractor with accountability of waste streams, budgets, and performance.
  • Prepare, update, and maintain all required EHS reports, regulatory agency submittals and operating permits
  • Manage plant security activities through a third party / Mange the third-party recycling program
  • Responsible for identification and timely submission of all permit requirements, hazardous waste programs, and ensure that hazardous wastes are stored and transported in accordance with applicable rules and regulations.
  • Conduct and coordinate regulatory compliance audits
  • Administer and maintain ISO 140001 certification
  • Administer and maintain Star Certification under the OSHA Voluntary Protection Program
  • Conduct training of any new Environmental Health and Safety initiatives
  • Complete incident investigations and regularly perform site hazard assessments and workplace ergonomic analysis
  • Work closely with Human Resources and Operations to decrease Worker’s Comp claims
  • Develop and lead programs to reduce work related incidents, injuries, and illnesses 
  • Minimum of 12 years of Manufacturing / Environmental Health & Safety experience or 10 years of experience in a leadership position in a manufacturing environment with a strong safety culture and demonstrated safety results.
  • BS degree required, Master’s degree preferred, with EHS certifications
  • Experience with implementation of a process- based safety investigation program
  • Good understanding of ergonomic principles
  • Hands-On, Strategic leadership style
  • Strong understanding of OSHA Safety and Environmental Regulations applicable to a large manufacturing operation.
  • Solid Computer skills including but not limited to MS Office software with advanced skills in Excel and Access
