Seeking an ambitious hands-on Operations Manager to lead the daily plant operations and assembly associated with a thermoset resin compression molding operation in Central Ohio. This contract manufacturer is an integral part of the automotive supply chain and produces large, highly engineered parts from fiber reinforced plastics and plastic composites. As Operations Manager, you will be responsible for leading the first line supervisors and production personnel. Technical expertise with thermoset resins, thermoforming or plastic sheet molding processes, associated tooling, automotive quality standards, and clear leadership abilities are essential. This person is a key member of the Leadership Team helping the company achieve short-term production targets and longer-term goals that support plant growth and sustainability.

The plant is located in Columbus, Ohio which offers a thriving economy, affordable housing, cultural diversity, vibrant professional and college sports scene, indoor/outdoor entertainment, and outstanding public and private schools.
  • Manage plant operations and processes with respect to cost, production scheduling, customer service, safety, first run yield, scrap, rework, and quality
  • Accountable for achievement of plant performance objectives to include safety, quality, delivery, and cost
  • Monitor operations expenditures and budget
  • Ensure compliance with business plan, specifically direct and indirect labor, inventory, capital spending, and employee development
  • Responsible for development of first line supervisors and production employees
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives in the manufacturing area
  • Directly support the plant manager on key initiatives
  • Manage overall plant operations when the Plant Manager is not on-site as preparation towards becoming Plant Manager in a few years
  • Bachelors' degree, preferably in engineering, operations, business, or logistics
  • 7+ years of progressive leadership experience E
  • Exemplary record and commitment to workplace safety
  • Hands on approach to leadership, team building, and coaching
  • Excellent track record of success implementing and sustaining continuous quality improvement
  • Expertise with Lean Manufacturing, Process Controls, and Quality Systems, specifically TS 16949 and ISO 14001
  • Outstanding problem solving and decision making ability
  • Priority development through the effective use of data
  • Disciplined approach to process and systems development
  • Deep understanding of production metrics and operations management tools
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High energy level and strong work ethic
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ERP systems
  • Strong business acumen
