Our client is a premier global property & casualty insurance conglomerate with US HQ in Cincinnati, OH.  They are currently looking for an Underwriting Supervisor - Personal Lines.  This individual must have a Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of underwriting experience with 1+ year supervisory experience in underwriting, excellent communication skills.  The company offers a very attractive compensation package plus bonus and relocation if needed.  CANDIDATES MUST BE US CITIZENS OR PERMANENT RESIDENTS, NO SPONSORSHIP IS AVAILABLE!  The company is anxious to hire!


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support adherence to risk management policies and procedures by conducting routine spot-checks on associates work output
  • Ensure adherence to underwriting letters of authority and provide consultation to underwriters on issues in accordance with such authority
  • Manage to service level objectives by directing the activities of associates responsible for reviewing, evaluating, analyzing risk, processing and issuing policies to ensure quality underwriting and risk selection occur
  • Coach employees to ensure a combination of logic, analysis, experience, wisdom and underwriting methods are consistently used  to make sound, timely decisions to solve problems
  • Oversee employee and/or team performance in order to identify and address top line growth and bottom line profitability trends  thereby resulting in completion of required analyses
  • Represent the Personal Lines Underwriting Department in a professional, customer centric manner
  • Effectively work  with other functional departments to resolve issues and build a team-oriented approach to related operations
  • Foster an environment that includes active listening, team building and dynamic dialog resulting in increased employee engagement
  • Continually find ways to improve processes and/or workflow procedures
  • Ensure daily work is completed in accordance with all applicable law, rules and regulations
  • Embrace a culture of compliance that encourages concerns surrounding non-compliance of business operations within and outside the division to be appropriately reported.
  • Holds regular one-on-one meetings with their direct reports to have dialogue that includes coaching and development. 
  • Other duties as assigned





Required: 3+ years of underwriting experience
Strongly Preferred: 2+ years supervising exempt associates, teams or processes, preferably in underwriting

Knowledge & Skills:

Required: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, leadership, time management, process improvement skills

Preferred: Insurance background, data analytics experience; Excel, Cognos, Access; ability to embrace and promote change


Required: Bachelor's degree, Supervisor's certification; CPCU or other industry coursework/designations

Preferred: Advanced degree
